Back in 1992, Jean-Paul Cottret switched to the co-driver seat. In 2000, he contested the Dakar Rally together with Stéphane Peterhansel and finished runner-up. A beginning of a truly successful partnership as the pairing celebrated a total of four Dakar wins, to date (2004, 2005, 2007 and 2012), and also proved to be successful in several smaller Bajas and FIA World Cup rallies.
